Summary/Abstract: Starting his analysis with the book of Charles King on the Black Sea history, S. Iosipescu states that the American historian saw a succession of imperial dominations in the region, but this is a simplified vision. A more accurate one shows a succession of circum-pontic domination cycles achieving maritime coasts (flanks). In his opinion, one has to avoid the excessive summing up of historic narrative because it could lead to a distorsion of historical truth.
