Summary/Abstract: In 1918 the Polish state was reborn and immediately granted women the right to vote and be elected, as the Election Regulation Decree was signed on 28 November 1918. To mark the centenary of Poland regaining its independence, the author reflects on the social context of the women’s suffrage, public debate on the right to vote and be elected as well as the legislative process.
