Summary/Abstract: ln this work the author stresses the importance of more thoroughly iIIuminating and elucidating the term Istrianity as well as the variants within which it is being interpreted. The interpretation of Istrianity as the stronger identity amounts to an expression of the dominating nationalities and is observed through the optics of government power. As the weaker one, this identity is revealed in heterogeneity and pluriethnicity and can thus be also defined as pluri-identity. This second variant or interpretation is being rejected by the government because it does not allow the unhomogeneity of the national being toward the existing formula of constituting National states, forgetting that national feeling represents an atavism of sorts. National identity interprets Istrianity as affiliation to one national group, and is therefore not prepared to take into consideration diversity and rights of the ethnically different, which causes violence and complete assimilation.
