Summary/Abstract: “As I speak, thousands of workers, thousands of women besiege a bastion. As expected, a brawl arose between the Annamite soldiers and the French soldiers. An Annamite was killed, and in order to defend themselves, the Annamite soldiers fired at the crowd. If the information provided to us is accurate, four women were killed.”These were the words of Pierre Laval, pronounced at the rostrum of the Chamber, in front of the deputies, on June 4, 1917, during a Comité Secret. on July 10, 1940, the liquidator of the republican regime cast a shadow over the memory of the adversary of the Union Sacrée, twenty-three years ago. Which comes first: the Homeland (namely France) or the Workers’ International, the negotiated peace with the risk of a war for nothing, or peace through victory, with the risk of a longer war and a revolution?
