Summary/Abstract: Due to the fact that the presence of the French soldiers in Banat was a temporary one, they expressed their wish to get to know the province from a more complex perspective, and not only from that outlined by their administrative-military duties, in an attempt to capture its uniqueness. On the other hand, the people from Banat, faithful to their tradition of hospitality and wanting to increase their prestige in the context of the Paris Peace Conference, were open to all contacts with the French. The nature of the interpersonal relationships established between the French and the Romanians was a direct and mutual one, defined by the effective contact of those who took part in common activities: festive meetings (balls, parties), displays of French and Romanian flags, speeches, parades, serenades, concerts, political and cultural visits.
