Summary/Abstract: The comprehension of the contemporary technological development presupposes the recognition of the lesson to be drawn from earlier structural changes. Firstly, however relevant technological development may be for the structural change of society, changes in the social, economic and political organization of labour are decisive. Secondly, extensive technological innovations have never been confined merely to the sphere of labour but have always covered the way of life us a whole. Thirdly, it would be historically incorrect to have doubt as to the acceptance or rejection of technology: the social conditions of its development and application are the decisive considerations. Fourthly, instead of posing philosophical questions about the possibility of structuring in principle, we should ask what are the possibilities and conditions of the practical and concrete structure of technology. The author subsequently analyzes some aspects of technical and economic restructuring of modern society.
