Summary/Abstract: Although reflections on translation date back to the most remote times, there is still no generally accepted definition for it. Theories do not help a translator much; in the words of Virgilio Moya himself, “...to translate, there is no need to know the translation procedures, as one doesn’t need to know Aristotle's rhetoric to speak” (Moya 2016: 34). The hardest thing to translate are culturemes, and a translator only two possibilities: keep them (placing a note eventually), or try to provide an equivalent structure. Both methods have been used in the translation of the novel The Forbidden by Benito Pérez Galdós.
