Summary/Abstract: The paper attempts at conflating several topical issues – otherness, migration, identity, children's education in multicultural environments– in order to render an image of childhood experienced as part of uprooted, different, family lives. The selection of texts foreground this condition of re/shaping identities as a consequence of experiencing otherness, multiple identities in contemporary communities , as well as the intricate process of developing one's sense of cultural belonging.
