Summary/Abstract: This publication discusses one of the types of administrative proceedings conducted on the basis of the provisions of the Act of April 2, 2009 on Polish citizenship, i.e. cases concerning confirmation of Polish citizenship, and in particular the role of foreign official documents in such proceedings. The publication presents the types of foreign public documents which may be used to suport such an application, as well as their scope of evidence. The study indicates the criteria for the admissibility of using such documents before Polish administrative bodies and authorities, while also pointing out issues related to the burden of proof in proceedings for confirmation of Polish citizenship. Both the impact of the phenomenon of dual citizenship and other reasons which affect the possibility of applicants to obtain a satisfactory resolution in their cases, is discussed.
