Summary/Abstract: The article presents tested diagnostic toolkit for measuring the reading competencies of the official Bulgarian language as a second language, acquainted through deliberate fostering of reading during the Bulgarian language classes – Roma students, at the beginning and at the end of the 7th grade. The ambition of the author is to support the process for raising the quality of education for every Bulgarian student, no matter of ethnical background, first language or culture
