Summary/Abstract: The improvement of newspaper publishing here is mainly still based on insufficiently modernized, too traditionalist innovating approaches and achievements. This retardation is mainly caused by certain uncoordination in the development of the press in Yugoslavia, however sudden and dynamic this development has been; and in the sixties and seventies in particular. In this undoubtedly great total progress, mainly in terms of the printing production and the sales, the professional superstructure required by the problems of the growth of journalist publications was somewhat neglected. This persisting neglect results today in the appearance of too one-sided (either noticeably commercial or economically needed) new publications. Some of their features, including their relative frequency, create the illusion of vitality and progressiveness - yet are in fact evidence of a pragmaticism that should have been left behind by now. Our journalist publications, thus, are not sufficiently up to dale or appropriate to the specific features of our society - not because we do not want or need them but because we still do not have people who would be able to produce and perfect them.
