Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to research into the origins of the idea of community property in Soviet law and its development in the Soviet study of family law, legislation, and judicature. The paper deals with regulations concerning property relations of spouses in the Soviet empre. The author examines conditions and circumstances of the adoption of the first Soviet codes of family law and indicates their characteristics. He also analyzes the impact of spouses’ work on Soviet marital property system.
