Summary/Abstract: The text comments one of Stefan Borbely’s, the reputed professor of comparative literature, review books, A book per week (2007). The discourse points out the main criteria followed by the critic in selecting the books and their authors, the importance given to Echinox movement, of which he was part of during his formation years and his admiration for some young Romanian scholars, who have proven a wide cultural competence, opened new and integrative perspectives in understanding literature and brought Romanian literature and culture up to date with the main Western ideas, thus making possible the intercultural dialogue and reducing the complexes of inferiority of the Romanian culture.
