Summary/Abstract: This article aims at discussing the system of markers of reformulation (in the following: MsR) in contemporary Romanian, i.e. a range of lexical units or metadiscursive phrases with a lower or higher degree of grammaticalization. The main function of such markers is to indicate the organization of the discourse they are included in; they also convey the reformulation of a previous sentence or of a certain element of the sentence and, thus, ensure a better understanding of the message. The purpose of this approach is to prove that, besides the equivalence that seems to exists between all analysed MsR, the relation between them is most frequently one of partial identity in terms of both degree of pragmaticalization and discursive functioning; each of these lexemes has specific values, so that they are not interchangeable in all types of contexts.
