Summary/Abstract: This article is concerned with a short review of the learning goals of secondary school philosophy in Bulgaria, the basic skills needed to achieve them and the challenges they pose to the assessment of students’ performance. The first part of the text describes the concept of autonomy in education. The second and the third part are devoted to the tools for personal development – critical and creative thinking and some issues related to their measurement in education.
