Legal issues in the identification of medicinal products

Summary/Abstract: One of the key issues in the field of the safety of trade in medicinal products is their uniqueidentification. The identification allows real prevention of the placing on the market of falsifiedmedicinal products. The literature rightly claims that the fight against trade in falsified medicinesin the legal distribution chain should be considered one of the most important public healthchallenges at the beginning of the 21st century. The aim of the article is to analyze the basiclegal requirements for proper identification of medicinal products both at the national and Europeanlevel and to indicate the directions of legislative changes.
