Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the Brontosaurus movement in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and 1980s which was founded as part of the Socialist Union of Youth (SSM). Though originally its main concerns were environmental issues it also proved to provide space for alternative ways of living in the longer term. This casts a characteristic light on the normalization era’s youth politics that allowed some inner plurality within the official structures.
