Summary/Abstract: The current paper offers an analysis of the speeches about Romania's accession to the Eurozone of the main personalities from the political and economic field in Romania. Adherence to the European single currency represents a political decision that should be closely linked to an objective analysis of the economy. In Romania, there are two factions that display a diametrically opposed discourse regarding the accession to Eurozone. The paper’s added value to the literature is brought about by the correlation between the political discourse and the one coming from the economy, thus testing the veracity of the presented ideas. Finally, we have determined whether the speeches coming from Romanian politics are anchored in the economic reality of the country and in that of the European Union.
