Summary/Abstract: In this paper the phenomenon of truth by Thomas Aquinas and Martin Heidegger is analyzed. First, they are positioned in the historical context of development of the theory of truth and at the same time their own positions about the truth are showed – for Aquinas veritas est adaequatio rei et intellectus, and for Heidegger notion of ἀλήθεια. After that, the paper will analyze Heidegger’s criticism of Aquinas’ traditional understanding of truth and will try to answer the question whether there is justification for such an attitude. With methods of comparison and synthesis, the end of the paper offers a possibility of fruitful ground for further development of connections between the two, concerning the phenomenon of truth.
