On the Draft of the New Act on Private International Law: Why a Reform is Necessary?

Summary/Abstract: The main source of private international in Poland is still the Act on Private International Law of 1965. At the time when it was enacted, it met international standards regarding trends in the conflict of laws. As years move on, there is however more and more need that the legal solutions are updated so to reflect modern tendencies in the field, as well as changes in the social and economic environment. The author presents the main rules proposed in the draft of the new act and discusses the major areas of disputable issues. A conclusion is drawn that the reform is desirable.
