Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to examine classic – Israeli, Irish, Armenian – and Central European diaspora policies, and categorize them based on Alan Gamlen’s diaspora policy typology. Gamlen differentiates three main types of diaspora policy models: capacity building, extending right, and extracting obligations. The case studies point out the characteristics of established and refined diaspora policies, as well as the specificities of the newer practices typical for the Central European region. The study provides additional considerations for the analysis of the Hungarian diaspora policy.
