Summary/Abstract: Coming from a foreign country, one is faced with some perspectives on the customs and traditions of the people here, of which a newcomer is very eager to learn and understand. Exactly this situation had motivated Irma Walter to meditate on „Vom Geben und Nehmen“ (Of Giving and Receiving) to put down some new observations until there comes a time when she has learned more, understood more.
