Summary/Abstract: This article deals with Titus Andronicus and Aaron, its controversial villain who has more than often been considered a mixture of Othello and Iago, the latter giving Aaron his predominant traits. The main intention is to analyse the play from different angles with a particular stress on Shakespeare’s treatment of the Other in a blood-and-thunder tragedy which the playwright’s approach to revenge and otherness not only answered the expectations of Elizabethan playgoers but also shattered some of the common stereotypes regarding representations of the black on stage.
