Summary/Abstract: The paper presents an attempt at summing up and verification of the current state of research on the location of medieval Sandomierz. The author shows that town location as a long-lasting process, consisting of a number of stages: 1. creating a trade community in Old Town Hills in the first quarter of the 13th century; 2. moving the settlements to the Town Hill in 1286, together with defining regular building layout; 3. expansion of the town and its economic and legal stabilisation about mid-14th century.
