Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyze political and strategical-operational limitations of 16th Airborne Battalion in executing mandatory missions during IFOR operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the part I of the article the author describes in short the timeline of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and peace negotiations. As starting points for further analysis, the author took the moment of signing The General Framework Agreement of Peace in Dayton (GFAP, December 14, 1995) and the establishment of Implementation Forces (IFOR, December 20, 1995) based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1031.
