Summary/Abstract: A poet, journalist, translator, member of the Romanian Academy, George Coşbuc was enlightened by the belief in the Christian values of the Romanian nation he was part of. A poetic spirit, he created a work of a special sensibility in which he mirrored the soul of the Romanian peasant, keeping alive the authentic spirit of the Romanian people. He showed wisdom and divine grace and he created a religious poetics of an extraordinary beauty. He is the only Romanian poet who completed a whole Christological cycle. A fine connoisseur of the Orthodox Christian spirit, he is one of the supporting pillars of the Romanian religious lyrics.
