Summary/Abstract: This section sets out to highlight existing research on media and online discourse and provides the background to my thesis entitled: A DISCURSIVE-SEMANTIC MODEL OF SEXUALITY APPRAISAL IN ROMANIAN ONLINE PERSONAL ADVERTISEMENTS. It has been pointed out that the first advertisements appeared in Romania in a local paper, Curierul românesc. The Personal Ads in the interwar period shared the general features of advertising, considered to be by far the best period in the whole Romanian history. In Romania, there are quite a few online dating sites, but compared to other Western European countries, the Romanian online dating market is rather small.
