Summary/Abstract: In the current work the author presents the modern identity as a manifest, a function of the national character. Using the ideas of the notable thinkers of the Modern History – Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Immanuel Kant, etc., a parallel between the British modern consciousness and that of the nations from the Ottoman empire is made. An answer for the question “Is the Balkan quasi-modern identity doomed in its delay or it has a chance in a perspective?” is looked for.
