The re-establishment of the Coetus in Transylvanian-saxon schools 1946-1948

Summary/Abstract: After the sudden change of the romanian policy of alliances in august 1944, the german-language school-system of the Transylvanian Saxons was normalising only slowly. Teachers and other staff had fled with the german troops, remained hided or were detained. Many pupils aged 16 or 17 were sent to rebuilding work in October 1944; new internments in January 1945 further delayed the resumption of education. The Coetus, an association of pupils, were allowed to be re-established in late autumn 1946. The paper presents the activities of the coetus at different schools in the first years thereafte
