Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to put the economy of the Second Republic of Poland between 1918 and 1926 in the perspective of Acemoglu and Robinson’s concept of inclusive and extractive institutions as part of the theory of the new institutional economics. The authors analyzed the inclusive nature of such institutions as: political rights, currency, taxes and property rights. This allowed for a positive verification of the hypothesis that in Poland in 1918-1926 there were inclusive political and economic institutions, which created conditions for economic growth in 1926-1929. The research was based on a critical analysis of sources (especially laws, decrees and regulations, as well as statistical data) and selected literature.
