Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses an atypical situation for the overall evolution of the EU,namely the transitional regime applied to the United Kingdom of Great Britain andNorthern Ireland following the notification to the Union under Article 50 of the TEU.Such a transitional regime, which is part of the withdrawal agreement, must be in theinterest of the Union, clearly defined and limited in time. In order to ensure conditionsof fair competition based on the same rules that apply throughout the single market, theacquis amendments adopted by the EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies applyboth in the United Kingdom and in the Union. Moreover, all existing Union instrumentsand structures relating to regulatory, budgetary, supervisory, judicial and lawenforcement matters, including the jurisdiction of the Court of Justice of the EuropeanUnion, shall also apply.
