Summary/Abstract: Acquiring Dobrogea following the Treaty of Berlin in 1878, was not only recognizing the independence of the Romanian state, but also the role that it had already drawn in South-East Europe. Caring for the new territory made to increase the number of Romanians settled here permanently. Facilities offered by the Romanian authorities have determined some of the Balkan Romanians to settle permanently in Romania. Faithful people with strong Christian morals, Vlachs settled in Dobrogea confidently and after the year 1914 in the Quadrilateral, where they enjoyed some special rights. The Romanian state continued after the First World War to deal with the fate of Romanians spread over the states south of the Danube. Unfortunately, with all Romanian political agreements concluded with these countries, the assimilation policy that they took did not end. Without rights and without being able to keep their language and faith in church and school, many aromanians passed north of the Danube or spread through Europe. And today we find a minority in the southern Danube that fights to keep their identity in the face of political authorities which do not recognize their existence.
