Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the challenge with regards to the definition of the concept “minority” under international law. The author discusses the apparent absence of a generally accepted definition of the term while offering an insight into the factors that have contributed to the failure to arrive at such a definition. An analysis of the various proposed definitions of the term leads to a conclusion on the need for a standard definition of the term as well as the criteria based on which a group may be considered a minority.
