Summary/Abstract: Starting from the concept of homo ludens, this work analyzes the data obtained with consideration to previous ethnological research on children's games and toys. The specific of the local children's play holds a more general meaning, related to the identity of the community to which they belong - that of Mândra village, in the Făgăraș area, Romania. On one hand, ludic manifestations of children belong to the contemporary traditional mentality of the Romanians, which is a collective mentality based on a mythical thinking, a magical vision of the world and symbolic logic. On the other hand, diversity of electronics and computer games in the village of Mândra illustrates the adaptation of the creative spirit of children in the virtual world of consumer society. Research suggests that the development of an irreversible separation process occurred between the child and the toy and/or game they play, which leads to a form of alienation.
