Summary/Abstract: In this article the author presents the conceptions of some European thinkers from fifteen-sixteen centuries regarding the political philosophy of the state in his transition from medieval to modernity. Arguments of some outstanding representatives of western medieval thinking are brought, based on their main works with political character which have been illustrated by Romanian historiography but mostly by the European. Their views were an important premise in defining the conceptual approach of the future modern state.
