The Map as a Tool for Visualising and Analysing Qualitative Data

Summary/Abstract: The goal of this article is to show the possible applications of cartographic maps in qualitative research. The author, taking her own research on the multi-sensory perception of Warsaw’s urban space by its inhabitants as the starting point, contemplates the usage of maps to visualize quantitative data and the analytical opportunities provided by such a solution. She also indicates dilemmas created by combining social research with cartographic methods and outlines the limitations of the research process planned in this way.
