Summary/Abstract: The first part of the following article analyses the impact and the implications of the U.S.’s international counter-terrorism measures (focusing on NSA’s PRISM program) on the right to data privacy. This is done by examining data protection regulations, and if the PRISM program is violating them. Moreover, in the second part of the article an analysis of the effect of the EU response to the “Snowden revelations”. The right to data privacy has become a very important subject in recent years, therefore papers on how counter-terrorism measures affect the right to privacy have been approached.2The main research method employed is analysis, analysis of different measures and how the PRISM program stands in proportion with international and EU regulation, and also an analysis of the effect of the EU’s recent measures. The article is important, as even if the subject of data privacy was approached before, studies regarding the impact of EU regulations on the protection of data privacy are rare, as most of the regulations are very new
