PRISON LIBRARIES: THE CASE OF KIRŞEHİR OPEN PENITENTIARY LIBRARY

Summary/Abstract: In order to keep the individuals under the rules of social law from the ancient societies up to the present day, prisons were needed. In order to understand how healthy a society is, prisons should not be ignored as far as educational institutions, cultural backgrounds and economic indicators are concerned. Prisons or detention centers aim to keep individuals under control for a certain period of time until they are adapted to the social order. At the same time, it should aim to make the necessary supports on subjects such as intellectual accumulation, education, health, personal knowledge and professional competence.In this study Kırşehir Open Penitentiary Library Library was examined. The services and activities of the Kırşehir Prison Library have been examined taking international standards and laws into consideration
