Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the dialogue between the cinema of women film directors belonging to the generation of artists born in the 1960s and 1970s and the cinema of Krzysztof Kieślowski. The films by Małgorzata Szumowska, Iwona Siekierzyńska and Ewa Stankiewicz – thanks to references to the work of Kieślowski, which was one of the pillars of the Cinema of Moral Anxiety, that is the last easily recognizable film generation formation – appeal to the idiom of the author’s cinema that is recognizable by the audience. These references confirm the status of the referenced works as a source of authority, or at least emphasize the importance they played in the past. Against this background, the lack of direct references of the film directors to the works of their cinematic female predecessors is puzzling.
