Summary/Abstract: In this paper, besides the previous knowledge of the origin of the Vlachs, their status in the Ottoman Empire, voynuks as a military order in the militant system of the Ottoman state, an overview of the administrative-territorial division of the Sanjak of Herzegovina in the middle of the 16th century was given, as well as the statistical data from the Vlachs and Voynuk defter of Herzegovinian liva from 1533 and about the defter itself in general.
