Summary/Abstract: A crime is a violation or breach of the law; it is a culpable act that is socially harmful or dangerous, and is prohibited and punishable under a statute. The concept of a crime is fundamental to every criminal law system. An attempt to define a crime is made by the legislator in a statute, or this is left to the science of law. The article aims at presenting this issue both in canon law and in Polish law.
