Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the specifics of the functioning of the Church and local communities in Belarus in the face of social challenges. It presents the statistics of religious confessions, outlines the structure of the „local community” in its scientific, theoretical and practical aspects, shows the role of the Church and local communities in the implementation of civil defense and defines arsenal of general self-defense.
