Summary/Abstract: The research topic of this paper is syntactic and semantic analysis of usage of infinitive in the translated Serbo-Slavonic literary work Stefanit i Ihnilat according to the transcript from the XVII century. The primary goal of the research is establishing the functional range of usage of the infinitive and infinitive constructions.Considering that infinitive, as a nominal medium inherited from the Proto-Slavic epoch, was progressively superseded by other verbal means in the vernacular as the language evolved, in the research we examine their competitive relations in the functional-semantic spheres of explication and finality. Moreover, within the fuctional-semantic field of explication we examine the competitiveness between the infinitive order for them to more precisely outline the functional style of the language in which the work was originally written. Moreover, due to the better definition of the style, in this paper the results of the research are contrasted with the research results that have been previously conducted on the other literary works, such as: Hilandar Typicon by Saint Sava, Life of Despot Stefan Lazarević by Constantine the Philosopher and the critical edition of The Old Serbian Alexander Romance.
