Research Regarding the Management of Change in Romanian Public Institutions

Summary/Abstract: The Romanian society knows a period of important transformations in order to meet the requirements asked by its integration to European Union, under the constraints triggered by world economic crisis. The public administration that targets the well-being of citizens has to adapt and to redesign its structures and activities in order to fulfil its mission and reach its specific objectives. This paper deals with presentation of the main results obtained by investigating the particularities of change management within this sector. The management of change proves to be a highly important tool for public managers in their struggle for combining the effectiveness and efficiency of public institutions, but on the other hand, there is a wide range of challenges they have to face and to find the right leadership style for motivating the people to cooperate and implement best practices in this field.
