Re-Domesticating the National Past: Visuality and Nostalgia on Greek Personal Homepages

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the Greek personal homepages of the period 1995-2003 as an indication of a critical process, concerning the reframing of ‘Greekness’ into the trans-national context of the post-coldwar period. The article focusing on the visual structure of this particular web-material, suggests the distinction between background and foreground as a key concept for researching the various and conflictual representations of the Greek past at the turn of the twentieth century. Despite the relatively successful informatiza-tion of Slovenia in internationally comparative terms, the interregional differences and differen-ces between settlement types are becoming increasingly urgent concerns. These differences must become the starting points for forming future policies for accelerating the processes of in-formatization.
