Summary/Abstract: Social media, including Facebook, and global communication give people various possibilities and tools. For over a dozen years, the attention of researchers has been focused on the mediatization in politics and the implications of this process. Moreover, some researches have investigated the phenomenon of mediatization of religion. However, the mediatization of church is still waiting for further, thorough analysis. The fundamental and a very general question emerging in the reflections on mediatization concerns the issue of how the contemporary media are changing church. This paper aims to identify the relations between the mediatization of church and its personalisation, and the consequences of these relations for communication, especially as far as the priests’ activity on Facebook is concerned.
