Summary/Abstract: In his pre-war writings, Ksawery Pruszyński made an attempt to oppose to the European awareness crisis, which manifested itself as social disintegration and totalitarian tendencies. However, as viewed today, his works from the 30s of the previous century, projecting the shape of Post-Enlightenment culture, can be understood as an evidence of powerful stereotypes, and, paradoxically, captivating language by radical discourses of modernity. After the Second World War experience, which denied faith in existence of sacrum, metaphysics, universality of values, the idea of New Middle Ages seems only an interesting episode in European thought history.
