Witold Gombrowicz and Wasily Rozanow ’s St ruggle with Form

Summary/Abstract: Typological relation of W. Gombrowicz and W. Rozanow’s autobiographical prose results from the common for both writers need for creation of new form of expression in the literary genre. Apart from the typical of diaries “I”, which in the writers’ works appears as an outsider, a prophet or a clown, there can be found narrative techniques to involve the reader. The author of the article, in accordance with M. Czermińska, calls it a diary challenging the addressee, which is an important point of reference. The dialogue with the reader takes various tones ranging from provocative, ironic to persuasive, patronizing, critical etc. The analysis of the means of artistic expression shows common for both writers clarity of the pictures and numerous aphorism.
