Summary/Abstract: The large quantity of coins that was emitted in a relatively short period of time, chiefly by the leading representatives of the Macedonian dynasty (when it acquired “an international role”) and then by their successors, guaranteed the existence of a substantial monetary mass. This mass served the interests of the Macedonian state, as it was introduced mainly in a military manner, as a symbol of absolute supremacy; then, it acquired either an economic and a commercial purpose within centers that knew the role of the coin, or it ended up in being hoarded, in the case of the gold and silver ones, a situation that went for a vast Carpathian-Balkan zone.
