The Editorial Evolution of the Ţărănismul Gazette in the First Two Years of Existence (1925-1927)

Summary/Abstract: The weekly Gazette of the Peasant Party, Ţărănismul [Peasantism], appeared onMarch 15, 1925, with Ion Mihalache, the president of the party, as chief editor. Thearticles published periodically were written in a literary form close to that of populargazettes so that those who read it can easily understand them. The themesapproached were various, ranging from the description and explanation of the lawspassed in parliament to the various electoral confrontations, such as partial, local orgeneral elections. Agricultural issues and the international situation were constantlypresent in the pages of the gazette, even if they did not rise to the level of the politicalsubjects’ appearances. In this analysis, we try to reveal the main messages sent bythe group led by Ion Mihalache. we also revealed and identified the politicalopponents of the party and the evolution of their discourse. The research was basedon the analysis of articles published by Ţărănismul in the first two editorial yearsand on the specialized research.
